Thieving manager is oblivious that I know.
So I work as a room attendant in an independently owned hotel, most managers have been there since leaving the womb it appears to me, so a clicky bunch, there are a noticeable amount of foreigners who don’t understand any English that are back of house. (Handy?)
The first 3 months of working at this place (manager in question was not present) I had taken over €60 in tips, the first couple of times I took lose change home i gave it to my daughter who scoffed at the mere amount of cent and euro, to teach her a lesson that everything matters and it all mounts up in the end, I told her to save it all up and she was able to buy the trainers she wanted in just 3 months.
In the last 5/6 months there has been just €10 in tips and that was from one room around 6 weeks ago.
my suspicions were already aroused months ago but two days ago they were validated.
A guest left the room next door and told me the room was empty now, thanks and goodbye…. I had thought I bet she has left a ti, I went in immediately and there sure enough was, just €2-€3 i quickly shut the door leaving the money where it was and carried on cleaning the room next doo, I knew the guests who just left had not reached the reception yet to check out and so the word would not have got to my manager (head house keeper) …. 5 minutes later and I heard her coming like a stampede of animals running from a forest fire, i saw her open the door, disappear into the room and then come back out seconds later.
Under normal circumstances she would stop and chat and then leave but she didn’t she just left, i prayed the money would still be there because i really get along with this woman which is the hardest part of all of this, sure enough the money was gone, I can’t tell you how enraged I am, this is a massive betrayal of trust on so many levels, my immediate thought is to leave the job, what else could she be doing? it is my word against hers 🤷♀️ for all I know the managers could all know and all do the same thing.
If I confrOnt her she might say she will stop and then she could use me as her scapegoat somehow In the future.
I feel that if I’m ready to just leave this place that I could possibly try and have some fun first? And try to anonymously ‘out’ her to get it in her stupid head that someone knows what’s she’s doing but she doesn’t know who.
oh, id need to add that getting to rooms before her is impossible as she is given that information by reception, you as the chambermaid are in a room already cleaning so you can’t gain access first, not unless you see the guest leave, just as I did two days ago.
