How would you rate the dentist's work?

Hello,
I went to the dentist today. Since I am scheduled to have my braces (elastics) fitted by my orthodontist tomorrow morning, I received a ceramic filling—according to the dentist.
The dentist signed the clearance certificate for the orthodontist.
He stated that the treatment was complete for the time being.
I’ve just taken a photo, but I don’t see any difference. I don’t even know which tooth was treated. My very last tooth broke off (years ago). Consequently, I assumed that the tooth would need to be fully reconstructed in preparation for the braces.
However, when I run my tongue over it, I can still feel broken, jagged edges.
The treatment lasted approximately 10–15 minutes.
My teeth are very important to me, especially since I am about to undergo surgery and get braces; I want the entire process to go smoothly. According to the dentist, I no longer have any cavities. I am just a bit puzzled, though, because I can still feel the "broken" part, and I’m worried that it won’t hold up once the braces are applied.
