Does anybody else slot a few edict effects into all their decks with black even if it does not have much, if any, synergy?
I recently updated all my decklists that have black by slotting 2-3 edict effects like [[Soul Shatter]], [[Accursed Marauder]], [[Sheoldred’s Edict]], or [[Plaguecrafter]] despite my decks being neither aristocrat-focused nor having much synergy or payoffs for those effects and noticed I started winning at a relatively high rate if I resolved one on turn 2 or 3.
A lot of decks are extremely vulnerable to getting set back to oblivion if interacted with turn 2 or 3 where people are usually getting out a crucial creature that they kept their hand for or rushing out their commander to get advantage quickly. This setback compounds exponentially by preventing opponents from snowballing when they get their early pieces removed and can’t chain things together.
Being able to substantially set back multiple players for very little mana with an effect that is hard to get around unless you have multiple creatures out early has proven to be too valuable lately. Nothing beats the feeling of a turn 2-3 edict after everybody rushed out their commander just to set them all back possibly two turns.
Does anybody else do this too, or is this just a me thing?
