Not sure how common this is, but I ran into a weird issue where some third-party USB-C chargers caused touchpad drift. Cursor would jump or stop responding while plugged in.

After digging around, I found that certain GaN chargers seem to fix it, likely due to better grounding. I picked one up and it completely solved the issue for me.

Figured I’d share in case anyone else is dealing with this. It’s been a solid backup option vs the OEM charger.

When I bought it, it was around $20 and there was a bulk discount (50% off when I bought 4+), but even at normal price it’s been worth it. There

Curious if anyone else has run into this or found other chargers that don’t cause issues.

I’ve been a Windows guy my entire life. Business owner, heavy daily laptop use, but not a developer. My workflow is basically Chrome, web apps, email, docs, etc.

I recently went down the rabbit hole looking at newer laptops (Snapdragon, ThinkPads, MacBooks, etc.) and I keep coming back to one thing:

MacBook battery life just seems on a different level.

Like the idea of:

- not thinking about charging

- grabbing the laptop and working anywhere

- not managing power constantly

That part honestly sounds incredible.

But here’s my biggest hesitation:

Why are all MacBook screens glossy?

I genuinely don’t get it.

I’m used to a matte ThinkPad screen and it’s perfect for actual work:

- no reflections

- easy on the eyes

- works in any lighting

If the whole advantage of a MacBook is portability and battery life, wouldn’t a reflective screen be a downside when you’re:

- at a coffee shop

- near windows

- outside

- or just in bright rooms?

So a few questions for people who’ve made the switch:

  1. Did the glossy screen bother you at first?

  2. Did you just get used to it, or is it still annoying?

  3. Has anyone used a matte screen protector on a MacBook? Does it ruin the experience or is it actually a good fix?

  4. For someone mostly living in Chrome/web apps, was the Windows → macOS transition easy or frustrating?

I’m not anti-Apple at all, just trying to sanity check this before I jump ecosystems after decades on Windows.

Would love real-world feedback from people who actually made the switch.
