Warning For Disabled People Visiting The Acropolis in Athens
Yesterday I went to the Acropolis with my 80 year old friend. We are both handicapped and asked to take the elevator. They told us that we didn’t look handicapped and that if we can’t walk up, we shouldn’t have come! We finally convinced them to allow us to take the elevator, but we were told we had to walk about a mile to the other side to another entrance. It took us over an hour to get there, only to be told that the elevator is broken and we should wait. We waited 2.1/2 hours and were then told it might not be fixed today. So we asked to change our tickets to tomorrow, they refused. We asked for a refund, they refused. So we left in disgust!
