I (19F) really like cat shirts. I have like four in my closet currently. One of my favorites is a cat-godzilla shirt.
It's a black shirt with a white cat godzilla mix while there are black buildings in the foreground. In the background of this is a red, stylized sun(edit: yes red sun and red rays coming off of it, 25 in total I counted). I got this shirt from my dad and his girlfriend during this past Christmas and have been wearing it about once a week.
This has not been a problem since I live in an area where winter is rainy and cold 24/7 so I really haven’t been showing off my collection of graphic tees until recently because the weather is better now.
So today I put on my shirt, and head to class. After class, one classmate I sit next to pulls me off to the side and tells me my shirt has a hate symbol on it.
Now that I look at my shirt, it does look like the rising sun flag. I knew of the symbol, but just never made that connection between that and my shirt.
I feel so bad right now, I go to a predominantly white school, but there are plenty of people who are Asian and I cannot believe that I missed that connection.
TL:DR: A cat godzilla shirt that was on my weekly shirt rotation for months, has a background that has a sun that looks like the rising sun flag
