Tonight is my first night with a new mama cat and her 6 kittens who are about a week old. I’ve weighed them twice today and they are all gaining weight (only been here 8 hours). Mom is SCARED. I think she’s feral. So my question is: is it okay to leave them to their own devices overnight so that mama can decompress and hopefully eat/use the bathroom? Or am I supposed to be checking on and weighing these kittens every couple hours to make sure none start to fade (and disturb the mom)?

Note: they are all in a bathroom together in a big box with a cozy blanket - mom has access to wet food, puree treats, water, litter.
