Trying to figure out if a 45 min commute - 1hr commute to work is even worth it (T20 in relevance to size)

I’m looking at South Boston housing prices + pace of the market and getting a little nervous. First time ever living in Boston.

I'm looking to move into a new apartment complex by January of next year, and the Cara popped up as a suggested location. Has anyone lived here or familiar with the area? I know it's near South Bay which gives me slight hesitation, but it also looks like it's separated by some highways.
