(25F) have been dating my boyfriend “Devon” for a year. We met working at his family’s gym, owned by his cousin “Amber” and her boyfriend. I’ve always had issues with them, but stayed because I support my family financially.
Recently, I noticed my paycheck hours were cut (24 → 14) with no warning. When I asked, they said cleaning and helping out no longer count as paid time—even though I’m still clocked in—and that my tips should make up the difference. I also found out some of my card tips were never added to my checks, and they falsely claimed I owed money for purchases. Altogether, they owe me $900+.
I pushed back and got fired.
My boyfriend is conflicted—he sees the proof but struggles to believe his family would do this. He wants to handle it, but I don’t want to cause issues between him and his family.
I feel taken advantage of and don’t know what to do next. Do I lead to pursuing legal action or will that be the end of my relationship? I truly love my boyfriend he’s amazing , kind and loves taking care of me but he is also tradition and very family oriented.
