Hey! This may be a lengthy post. I’ve been working up the courage to post on here for a few months, and I could really use some help with my hair.
Although it looks pretty rough on the ends, I don’t think it’s damaged. My hair is naturally wavy/curly, I blow dried it to see and wear the true length a few days ago (1st & 2nd pic).
However, I’m at a loss on what to do. I’m trying to prioritize length, but hair health is just as important for me, and I hate feeling like my hair isn’t perfectly blunt at the ends. I crave a fresh haircut so much for those soft and healthy ends. But at the same time.. maybe it’s just my texture? I wonder if I’ll end up with the same rough ends in a few months if I did cut it.
The reason why it’s all choppy and weirdly layered is because I was growing out a global bleach and in August of 2025, I asked my hairdresser to basically just cut off all of the blonde (last pic).
I’m also finally past a really weird awkward phase of length and finally enjoying my hair getting longer, so I feel like if I cut it, I’m gonna be pushing back so much progress from my goal, which is tailbone length non stretched.
I know there is probably a logical answer to my question, but I would really like to know based on your personal experience what seems like the best choice. I’m of course leaning more towards leaving my hair alone and letting it grow, but I need some reassurance. Another thing, are there any opposing that my ends are healthy? I only ask because I don’t have split ends or breakage, I haven’t had any kind of hair cut since August ‘25.
Routine: wash and condition with Aussie miracle maybe 3-7 times a week just depending on how I feel. Air dry after using microfiber towel ever so gently. Used heat to blow-dry for the first time in at least 2 years. Other than that no heat whatsoever. Shea moisture coconut leave in spray with a drop of jojoba oil in my ends after washing. Sometimes I use my own mixture of jojoba oil, peppermint essential oil and rosemary essential oil on my scalp before shampooing and jojoba oil in ends as pre-poo. Used L’Oréal metal detox for the first time about a two months ago. Sleep with silk bonnet, no tight styles, sometimes I loosely claw clip to keep off of my neck in this Florida heat.
One more thing I would like to pre thank anybody who chooses to bless me with their time and knowledge. 🙏
TLDR: blunt cut now for fresh ends *or* retain length until goal of tailbone length is met, and then cut it?
