It feels like there are a lot of lonely people in Ireland right now. We spend a lot of time commuting, on our phones, watching tv. Parents are so busy with extra curriculars for their kids, sitting alone in their cars or in the waiting area. Offices, feels like we sit at desks not talking much to those next to us, banter is largely gone from office environments for fear you say the wrong thing and it blows up. Remote working. People don't go to the pub any more really, I see my local rural town once had a thriving pub scene, it's basically empty now.

I was chatting to a mam at school drop off this morning and for some reason she mentioned Epstein. I said yeah, awful, etc. And she said that stuff was everywhere, sure what happened in Ireland with the priests was as bad if not worse. Small kids abused systematically over decades.
And it got me thinking, what are the worst cases or incidents in Irish history? Feels like we don’t hear enough about our own dark history, priests, Kincora, Magdalene laundries. Was there some abuse thing in Dalkey or somewhere? What else was never given the spotlight that it should have been?
