Hair is squeaky when wet but also not absorbing any hair mask? Help
Basically title I guess. For context, I used to use a moisturizing hair mask every few weeks when I felt my hair was super dry and it worked wonders for me until one day it just… stopped? My hair stopped absorbing it for whatever reason. At the same time, I started to feel my hair (specifically the root part) getting super squeaky in the shower, and brushing it after showering has been a nightmare since then. I saw some posts saying that when hair isn't absorbing the hair mask it must be because it's clogged with residual product or hard water and a clarifying shampoo is in order. On the other hand, I saw other posts saying that when hair gets squeaky when wet is because it was stripped of all its natural oils and a less clarifying and more hydrating shampoo should be used. I may be wrong but those feel like opposites lol and I don't know what to do. 💔
