I am looking for an artist to collaborate with on making some jewelry with some Australian black opals. They are not huge, but have some amazing fire play of color and in the right settings, I believe could really be worth something. Would like to try to make 4 or 5 earrings, 3 rings and possibly 3 pendants. Of course I would pay a commission or we could split the profits. In your opinion, what do you think the value of Australian black opals will be in the future, say 5-10 years? I watched a YouTube video where an "expert" predicted that as the older generations pass on and the younger ones don't want to continue on in this rare field, will create a huge shortage, dramatically increasing the value of Australian black opals in the future. Any opinions on this or facts would be appreciated.
