40+ FTM - Looking for Positive Induction or Elective C-Section Stories
Just like the title says - looking for positive induction or elective c-section stories from first time moms over 40.
I am 42 years old, first time mom, 38W, scheduled to be induced next week.
Check on Friday and bishop score is still a 0 - and honestly, the research on maternal outcomes with an unfavorable cervix for first time moms over 40 doesn't give me a lot to be hopeful about. So just looking for some positive reinforcement?
I go to a practice, so don't see a single practitioner - and so I've discussed this with multiple individuals - and while they all encourage trying induction first, they also said if next Friday - I feel best proceeding with an elective c-section they would support my choices.
I fear the worst-case scenario of both - a prolonged induction - with 90% of the trauma a vaginal labor and end up with the c-section and the longer recovery that likely requires.
I am fortunate that when I come home - I will have my husband, my mom and a night-nurse (3 days a week) to help support me. Appreciate any stories shared. Thanks!
