OK, I have dived in to the pool.

I have been printing for a few years, designing in Fusion360 for a couple, and decided to get a 3D scanner.

First off, what I thought was a pretty shit hot computer (Dell Optiplex 7080, 32G RAM, onboard graphics) was laughed at. Fine, it's now same system with 64G RAM and a RTX 3050 6G (smallform factor limited car choices)

Then I started looking. ChatGPT said "Creality this, Creality that) etc. I do FDM printing and Creality gives me hives. Einstar kept coming up, but then someone mentioned Revopoint, and someone else mentioned the as-yet-to-be-released Revopoint POP 4.

I sniffed around a bit and finally stood up and backed the kickstarter, getting a POP 4 KS Special (maybe the POP 4 Premium?)

When/if it arrives, I'll let you know how it goes.

OK, I'm upping my computer specs, now I'm looking at scanner options

[EDIT] I did my first ever Kickstarter on the Revopoint Pop 4.

Dell Optiplex 7080: i7, 64G RAM, MSI's RTX 3050 LP 6G.

Right now I am thinking of small-ish parts, maybe up to a motorcycle helmet size. Also people's heads. I have friends who build small boats (20'/6m) and it'd be neat to print them little models.

I have $1300 available for spending. I'd like to spend less. The options are brain-bleeding, and the AI chatbots are recommending Creality products. When I say I am gun-shy of Creality, the AIs say "The scanners are a different division with a different approach."

Ease of use is important. Interface is important. Hit me with some suggestions, please.

What do you think of the Einstar Prosumer Portable 3D Scanner?

I've been printing for a few years and designing with Fusion360 for a couple, now I want to branch into scanning. I'm seeing the Einstar Prosumer Portable 3D Scanner looking really good. What do you all think of it? And what would you recommend instead? My budget is $1000, I run Windows on a Dell Optiplex, graphics is Intel UHD 630 with 1Gb of adapter ram.
