A What's the Point Ramble

DISCLAIMER: I AM VENTING, AND DON'T WANT TO IMPOSE ON ANYONE! I AM GUILTY IN ALL ACCUSATIONS STATED AGAINST PEOPLE IN THIS AND I DO NOT DIRECT THIS AT ANYONE OR GROUP IN PARTICULAR. THIS IS A RAMBLING NARRATIVE THAT HAS BEEN IN MY HEAD FOR A WHILE AND ONLY WANT TO SAY IT TO AS CLOSE TO OUT LOUD AS I CAN.

So I keep getting in an extremely negative mindset about the point of life, like many. I can flip in an instant on how I view this but still come back to the same thing. What is the point of humans, society and myself in particular.

We are an extraordinary bunch, full of art, love and the gift of seeing the world in a truly unique way. We create things from our surroundings that have immeasurable beauty, and can do so for beauty's own sake. We create meaning in chaos via music, language, art, and love, all with the understanding (mostly) what that implies. We learn and grow all the time as people, and as 'a people'. We are beautiful.

But what do we actually do? How do we actually contribute to anything that isn't directly contributing to our short term understanding of what is best for US, or ME, or YOU? Why are we here? I can see an argument for us being responsible for "culling the herd" so to speak, and being an answer to overpopulation of various species, but what happens when we overpopulate? We consume and disrespect everything around us because we feel we have the right.

That is fine. We honestly can do what we want and reap what we sow, but morals aside, why do we exist, and what place do we have? Oldest question ever, I know, but I am only now slowly seeing it as pointless. Love is good, and is a good reason to do what we do, but that is seldom, in our history, the driving point behind anything. We look for some purpose, something to believe in and way too often are led on a path of destruction to promote, preserved, or enact what is the "right" way of things by people who think they know that their "right" end is worth terrible things that we do to make them a reality.

We are too much, too confident and all stupid (Yes, me included) to be anything coherent. I am fine with humans being pointless and making our own worth, I simply see no worth in anything we have done beyond growing ourselves. Again, this is fine, but what are we growing toward? Is this the modern faith? That there is some form of an endgame, or at least a plan and goal beyond "Conquer All"?

Animals, bugs, plants all have a place and a reason for being here. There are countless reasons that we could not live, at least the way we know, without every system in place. It seems like our place at this point is to disrupt and try to mediate our impact so that we can survive. I just see no reason for us to keep going on the path we are. I will not get into what we do to each other, as that is a whole other box to unpack.

Anyway, this is a tidbit of what I have been thinking about in the last few days. Please downvote or disregard if I am full of shit, but I wouldn't mind seeing other perspectives when I get up in the morning. Good Night!
