Wanting a Fit - manual or CVT?

Title. I currently have a VW Tiguan that I like but don't love. I want a Fit because it seems to basically have the same cargo space as a bigger subcompact SUV in a smaller footprint! I'm moving to a city and that will matter when parallel parking.

Why I'm considering a manual:

  1. Easier to fix. I had a manual VW Jetta a few years ago that needed some serious work after 250k miles and it being manual ended up saving me a lot of money.

  2. It's more fun!

Downsides of manual might be that it's annoying when driving around in the city and they seem to be pretty scarce on the market. I'd definitely prefer a newer one with hill start assist also.

Can anyone share their experiences? Is the CVT really not that big an issue in terms of maintenance costs, especially if that's way easier to find?
