I'm wondering if this final stage of quitting is just prolonging the suffering.

I've successfully cut down from 75mg twice a day to 1 sphere in an extended release tablet. Mine have 3 spheres so equivalent to 12.5mg once a day. Side effects with each step down varied with nausea, shivering, diarrhoea, sweating, head zaps, palpitations, dizziness, tiredness and a bit of rebound depression (which generally abated around week 3 after the cut down) all making an appearance. I've been doing this over an entire year so it's been a year of feeling well about a third of the time and suffering for the other two thirds.

This week I started taking the extended release with 12.5mg every 36 hours. I have what feels like mild anxiety and a few bouts of tearfulness. The rebound depression is there.

At this point would I better just stopping? It feels like I'm prolonging the agony. My GP is useless on this front, just told me to take a 75mg every other day for 2 weeks then stop. If anyone's reached the end of this process, is this advisable?
