Pretend my son is 12 and going to middle school 9-3pm, while I work 8-5pm.

There seems to be no before/after school childcare for his age group. Does he get on the school bus by himself, stay home by himself after school until I return from work? What happens if he misses the bus? Is it dangerous to give a 12yr old unsupervised internet access while I'm not home?
