Platepass charge after declining on reservation
I've seen a couple platepass issues posted on here, but not this. I declined platepass at the time of reservation and rental. The commentary on the website and at the airport was declining would charge an administrative fee plus actual tolls.
Th email I just got said "Our records indicate you declined the PlatePass All-Inclusive tolling option at the start of your rental, but during your rental you activated the transponder device affixed to the car windshield and incurred tolls. As a result, the card used for your Hertz rental was charged the cost of the PlatePass All-Inclusive rate as applicable to your rental period."
So the two minor tolls on a single day went from $13 to $89.
I called in and the AI bot said what the website said, if you decline you'll be charged an administrative fee and actual tolls for any day the transponder is used. The operator, when I finally got one, said I opted in, and she got nasty when I read her the email. She did refund after argument. Shame on you, Hertz for the bait and switch.
