Hello. I recently got a Boss Katana Artist Gen 3. While I’m loving the amp so far I noticed an issue when using an expression pedal with it. I noticed that when I first plug the pedal in the amp would only recognize half of the movement range, meaning that starting at toe down it would go from 100% to 0% when the pedal was only about halfway up, and the rest of the pedal’s range of motion was just a deadzone. I was able to fix it by having the minimum knob set about halfway at toe down, moving the pedal all the way to heel down, and turning the minimum knob back to almost but not quite 0.

I tried asking ChatGPT about this and was told this was normal behavior for the amp and the expression pedal just needed to be calibrated to match the input on the amp. However, I wanted to check with you guys if this was actually the case. I tried 2 different expression pedals with the Katana, the Boss EV-30 and the Roland EV-5, and both had this issue. This isn’t a huge problem in the grand scheme of things because it is fixable, but I’m just a bit concerned since these were both Boss/Roland pedals explicitly listed as compatible with the Katana amp, so I was sorta expecting them to both just work right out the box without needing to fiddle around with knobs and settings. So is this normal behavior with the Katana amp, or is there an actual issue with my pedals and/or amp? It’s perfectly fine if that’s how the Katana amp normally behaves, I just want to make sure I don’t have any actual issues with the amp or my pedal.
