I had my omnipod 5 with libra 2 onboarding session with Insulet recently to move me off the old omnipod system as it’s being discontinued, we were advised to keep it in auto mode as much as possible so I posed the question of how do I eat pizza, as I tend to eat a whole pizza at a time and do 45% bolus upfront with 3-4 hours of insulin spread depending on how fatty the pizza is. The problem is, auto mode doesn’t allow you to split bolus like the old system does, you can go into manual mode to do it on the new system but the Insulet representative told me I should just bolus for the entire carbload of the pizza upfront?!

Now I don’t claim to be an expert but I have been type 1 diabetic for 15 years, but as I understand it, this automated omnipod/cgm system can only reduce my blood sugars automatically, not bring them back up, so to me, telling someone to deliver 100-140grams of pizza carbs upfront sounds like a really stupid and dangerous thing to do? Should I just go into manual mode and do the insulin split as before or is there a good way of doing it in auto mode?

Edit: sorry important bit of context I left out, this is on Novorapid
