I need some ideas on what to build.

I want to find a position as a technical artist/animator. What projects would get me a chance in the industry. I have made some tools (mostly python in maya) and rigs. I'm proficient in Maya and mostly work in UE5. I'm looking for more specific tools or anything you guys would like me to build that would be useful for artists.

Side question: Is it bad to vibe code?

I’ve been struggling with this a lot lately, so I wanted to ask

How are you all actually meeting people in the game industry right now?

Applying to jobs is one thing, but it feels like everything comes down to referrals, connections, or just knowing the right people… and cold messaging has been pretty hit-or-miss for me.

I’ve been thinking about whether there’s a better way to:

  • Find collaborators or teammates
  • Get feedback on work
  • Meet people naturally without awkward DMs

Is this something you’re dealing with too?
What’s been working (or not working) for you?

I’ve been exploring an idea around this and would love to share it if people are interested but honestly just trying to understand how others are navigating this right now.
