Fans making weird noise and vibrating
I got this computer about 8 months ago. Starting yesterday mid game session (I think half an hour to an hour in) the fans started making the weird noise shown in the video and were making the computer vibrate ever so slightly. After a few minutes of this I heard a loud BEEP followed by the fans returning to their normal smooth sounds. The beep kinda sounded like a motor beep rather than a speaker beep, but I’m not sure. About a minute later the fans went back to the weird sounds and vibrating and stayed that way for the rest of the session, about 45 minutes more. When I closed the game, I heard a loud, continuous BEEEEP, so I powered down the laptop and the beep stopped once the computer was powered off.
Troubleshooting so far:
This morning I opened the game just to recreate the issue, and I thought the sound might’ve just been coming from one fan, so after powering down the computer I removed that fan, pinned it in place with my finger, and then vacuumed it. Just now I booted up the game and after about 3 minutes the weird sounds and vibrating returned same as before, which is when I took the attached video.
What’s wrong with the computer? What can I do to fix it?
Additional information:
It’s an unmodified ASUS TUF A18. It contains an AMD Ryzen 7 260 CPU with AMD Radeon 780M graphics, as well as an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU. I’d assume fan specs would be relevant, but I don’t know where in settings or wherever to find that information. If worst comes to worst, it’s still under warranty.
