Hello I currently have 3 credit cards tha are charged off and being handled by collection agencies. Additionally each charge off is a year old. The first account is 1,224 in debt the second is 1,431 in debt and the third is 1,197 in debt.
The issue that I am running into is that I’ve heard paying off the debt doesn’t improve credit score unless in fico model 9s which are uncommon. If this is the case why would anyone even pay off the debt with no benefit?
Additionally I have heard of an option to dispute the charges with a collection agency and I wanted to ask Reddit how realistic is it to do this, how long would this take, and could I just pay a credit rebuilding company to remove/ dispute all three charges for me?
The Last thing I want to ask Reddit about this situation is if anyone knows of an official irs line/ number that I can call to further follow up on these questions
