Upgraded PC had a blackscreen with "extreme settings"
Hello everyone,
I hope it’s okay to ask support-related questions here. I’m definitely not a pro, so please bear with me. 🙂
Two days ago I upgraded my old PC with a new graphics card and a new CPU. I’m very happy with the results and basically everything is running smoothly(!).
Old setup:
- Ryzen 7 2700X with stock cooler (Wraith Prism)
- GTX 1080 (Palit)
- Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB
- Asus Prime B350M-A
- Corsair VS650 – 650W VS Series
New setup:
- Ryzen 5 5600X with stock cooler
- RX 9060 XT 16GB
- Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB
- Asus Prime B350M-A
- Corsair VS650 – 650W VS Series
Now my question:
I was playing Pragmata using FSR and Frame Generation. On high settings everything ran perfectly fine, so I thought, “hey, let’s try extreme settings” … Well, during a fight my PC suddenly crashed (screen froze first, weird audio noises, then a black screen).
Could this have been caused by the extreme settings? On high settings the system runs really well and I’m very happy with the upgrade overall.
It just feels a bit unsettling now - you kind of worry that the black screen might happen again, especially since the parts are brand new.
What I’ve tried so far:
- Ran OCCT stress tests - no issues and temperatures are okay
- Tried several different games - no issues and temps are fine (except for the crash in Pragmata)
- MSI Kombustor (went fine)
Thanks in advance for your help
