It is an RNA virus.

✅Reservoir: Rodents are the natural reservoir.

Virus is shed in:

urine, saliva, feces

✅Mode of Transmission

Mainly by inhalation of aerosolized rodent excreta.

Human-to-human transmission is seen in Andes variant

✅Important Diseases

📝Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome (HFRS)

Common in Asia and Europe.

Renal involvement prominent.

📝Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS)

Common in Americas.

Severe respiratory failure.

Mainly supportive.
