DANGANRONPA 2X2 WILL BE DANGANRONPA 4 (theory)
Okay. So. Something ive been thinking about is why did Spike Chunsoft stop making Danganronpa games? Sure, the story of Hopes Peak ended, and V3 is making fun of the very idea of Danganronpa continuing, but from a business point of view it doesnt make sense. Danganronpa is a cash cow, featuring one of the most recognizable mascots in gaming as well as the second best selling visual novel series in history.
Spike Chunsoft also clearly wants Danganronpa to return as most of their recent projects have tried capturing the magic the games had to no success.
My theory is, they didnt, and Danganronpa 2X2 will be Danganronpa 4.
When I was playing Danganronpa V3, I thought nothing of the name, I thought it was just the series trying to be quirky, like it usually is, and thought it stood for something like Version 3. Well turns out, that V is the clue to the biggest twist in the game, revealing that its not Danganronpa V3, its>! Danganronpa 53. !<This play on words/hiding in plain sight thing is what I think is the very thing happening here in Danganronpa 2X2.
Also think about this. Why would Spike Chunsoft start remaking their games at the SECOND entry? In my opinion THH is in dire need of a remake far more than GD is. Is it cause its the most popular? Could be, but I think its because it makes it the best candidate to hide another story inside it. Think about it, Danganronpa 2 takes place inside of a program, not a physical location, so what are the odds the dudes at Hopes Peak just said "Run it again" and thats how the alternate story is going to exist!
Now where could this lead in the actual story? idk not my job. Though if I DID have to say, itd be >!as a follow up to Makoto being the head of Hopes Peak, and maybe how theres still Junko's supporters running around trying to wreck things again. Idk. Im not a story teller!<.
Now I know Spike Chunsoft said that the extra 2 stands for the other story you get to play in the game, but I think thats just a diversion, similar to how they >!promoted Kaede as the protagonist in V3, only for it to be proven wrong in the very first trial. !<So who knows? Maybe Spike Chunsoft has been lying the entire time!
So thats my theory. Danganronpa 2x2 will not be Danganronpa 2 with an added story, it is instead an equation. 2x2 = 4, Danganronpa 4. This will be the franchises grand return to the main stream.
i think im going insane.
