Advice, please
My mother has Altzheimers, and she’s currently bedridden in a medical facility at her assisting living home. I live out of state, but was staying with her days and nights for three weeks with naps at her apartment, and I think it helped her morale. Cheered for her during PT and OT sessions, played her favorite music on my IPad, brought her the fruit and healthy snacks that she loves, etc.
I’ve been home for a week, and she wants me to go back again. My husband is fine with it. My older sister, who lives near where my mother is, is not. My sister thinks I’m “coddling” my mother, and my influence is doing harm to her. I think certain aides who we pay to care for her do more harm by focusing on their phones and ignoring her when she needs to be repositioned in bed or changed.
I booked a flight to go back out to be with mom tomorrow, and my sister demanded that I cancel it, because mom “doesn’t remember anything.”
Please let me know your thoughts.
