So I played my second tournament ever and this time I didn’t do so badly! Ran a fairly uncomplicated chaos beatstick list, no bells or whistles, just violence.

Game 1 victory vs TK’s 14-6

First game was a slugfest where we both destroyed each other’s armies. My marauder horsemen were singularly useless but my chosen and dragon ogres performed well. My glass cannon chosen performed great, helped by some reliable casting of demonic vessel which made sure they came out on top. Got very confused as to why my opponent charged my dragon with a tomb scorpion only to be told later it had monster slayer. I just thought I was squashing a bug…

Game 2 defeat vs Dwarfs 7-13

Flush with confidence from my win I then ran headlong into a miserably tough dwarf list combining shooting, high static res and a death star of longbeards with a king. I made some overly risky plays that cost me early charges and though inflicted some harm, I was slowly chipped into nothing. Marauders again were hopeless. I felt this would have been a tough match up, but should have been slightly less aggressive.

Game 3 defeat vs high elves 1-19

Okay here I just got bodied. It was an all cav double dragon list… Too many dragons, the only thing that could have killed the dragons was my dragon and that was at the other end of the board. It was a massacre, not helped by my warriors running in terror during a dragon charge. Felt this was a paper to my rock in terms of list building.

Anyway, a great day was had by all with fantastic looking armies and excellent opponents. I think tournaments are a bit much for me to do regularly, but I enjoy them every once in a while.

So I have a tournament tomorrow and thought I’d show off my 2000pt force that is ENTIRELY PLEDGED TO SLAANESH. Monogod chaos is awesome.

Sorcerers like all users of the the magical arts regardless of race or creed are wildly eccentric and those pledged to Slaanesh even more so. They are creatures of obsession and perfection which can go any number of ways depending on their bizarre whims. Some feel that the body should be as perfect as the mind and sculpt themselves into golden adonii. Others believe that magic itself is to be perfected and spend long years closeted in towers perfecting their art, supping on the arterial blood of virgins to prolong their already lengthy lifespans.

Maggog is of the second school and it is rare anything can lure him out of his lair, but his arrival heralds a truly monstrous storm of magic as the wizened lord demonstrates that a century of theory can work in practice.

The order of the Black Goat is a debased mockery of the Empire’s proud knightly orders, a ragtag band of mercenaries, hedge knights, cut-throats and bandits welded together by faith and fanaticism.

Originally they came to worship the dark prince out of a cynical sense of irony, thinking a god of ‘women and wine’ a fine patron for a merry band of murderers. Fate it seems has a sense of humour and when the whispers of the prince of pleasure first stole into their dreams it found many receptive minds already eager to pick up swords in his name and honour their foul band’s creed.

‘Make it fun, make it stimulating’

Marauder cultist knights of Slaanesh, all prettied up for a tournament. I wanted to get away from the Viking aesthetic for Slaanesh since I don’t think it really fits and it’s crazy how the look of a unit changes with an alteration to the shields and heads.

has its origins not in the frozen north but in the tumultuous landscape of the Border Prince
