How to deal with wood elves?

Playing between 1k and 1500 point games. Primary army is dwarves, secondary army is ogres kingdoms.

I only have one guy to play against, who only has wood elves, and who bodies me regularly every time we play.

Tonight was 1k ogres vs elves. I had 1x bruiser, 1x hunter, 2x 5 bulls, 10x gnoblar trappers, 1x stonehorn riders. He had a mage, 4x 10 glade guard with -2 AP arrows, 2x mounted guard, 1x wild riders.

He deployed the 40 archers in a line across his deployment zone. Turn 1 mage casts rust on the stonehorn, shooting stonehorn was on 2 wounds remaining, 2 bulls are dead,.Hunter is dead. Turn 2 wild riders charged the stonehorn and kill it, guard cavalry charge gnoblars and run them off, ogres bulls take more hits. On my turn I charge the bulls,.elves stand and shoot, bruiser and 3 bulls make contact. Bruiser kills 2 glade guard, bulls kill 3, I lose both combats with the stand and shoot results.

End of Turn 2 I'm down 750 points and it's basically game over.

When he plays my dwarves, same thing happens. He rusts one unit and puts 30 AP4 shots into it a Turn,.deleting me in detail. 24 inch range on my thunderers means I'm always at -2 penalty with ponderous advancing under arrows storm and losing a unit per turn. Wild riders clean up what's left. Even when I charge because of initiative everything he has hits before me.

In bigger games his wild riders get 5+ ward and 5+ regen stacked as well.

It feels like my option is just dont play the game, because holy shit do I suck at rolling dice 😅

Competition Piece

Hi everyone, just wanted to share this high elf spearman mini I painted as part of the TravellingMan painting competition. The challenge was to paint it using only the 4 paints I was send by them plus a pure black and white. The basing material I was sent also had to be used. It’s the first old world mini I’ve painted so I’m pretty happy with it and the fact I only had a handful of colours to work with.

Hope you all like him! :)

Since I couldn’t fit her into my 2.2k list for a tournament this coming weekend, I decided to make my Spellweaver part of a scenery piece for my display board. First time using UV resin and super happy with the result!

Will post pics of my full army/board after the tournament this weekend. I have some last minute crunch on the detail work for 5 of my Glade Riders and a few more Guard, but my army is about 95% done at full detail after nearly 10 months of painting Elves (with a small break from Jan-Feb when I started my O&G army)!

The UV resin was very easy to work with and although I had some issues with the curing having an adverse reaction with the XPS foam, the way it distorted and messed up my foam a bit actually looks very cool and makes the water look disturbed, which played into my original idea way better than if it had cured properly and been just crystal clear. It looks like there are a bunch of air bubbles and foam rushing around under the surface where the Spellweaver is conjuring and I love it. Final result is even better than what I imagined in my head.

For the splash effect I used a solo cup with a smaller mouthwash size cup directly in the center upside down to prevent the resin from accumulating in the middle while I dribbled it along the sides of the solo cup. I couldn’t see very well what it looked like as I was pouring it but it seems like my judgment was sound because I couldn’t believe how cool it looked after I cut away the cup and peeled the splash off of it.

Super stoked to show off my board on Saturday and hoping my spell slinging siren will help push me to the top for best painted army!

Wood elf lord on forest dragon

The original miniature for the lord on forest dragon is a bit too old school for my taste so I went for what is imo the best dragon sculpt. Slapped a wild rider with a head swap on top and voilà.

I like this dirty and wild take on the forest dragon, it fits my vision of the wood elves realms.

Old World Realm of Battle Board

Hey all,

Worked on the table about a year ago and realised I never posted any pictures. Made using eight of the GW Realm of battle boards for large games. Would like to add walls and fences eventually.

Suggestions on what to do with extra green knight?

so, for context, I'm a Mousillon player (vampire counts) and I used the green knight as a vampire count for my army. but something happened with the order and I got two of it. and now I don't know what to do with the second one. If I just do the same thing with this one as the previous one the first one will feel less special and unique. so I'm going here to ask for suggestions.

Imperial inn, my first build!

Low on funds to put towards starting an Empire army for The Old World, I decided to scratch the itch trying my hand at some Empire-themed terrain. Spent a lot longer on this than I anticipated, but I’m quite proud of what I managed to accomplish!

I used random boxes, lots of stir sticks, toothpicks, matches, and popsicle sticks. The bushes are lichens I scavenged from the woods by my home, the leaves are a mix of spices and tobacco, and the rest is flock and 2 types of woodland scenic tufts. The base is 1” pink foam, and the building is removable if I want to use it without the hill. The “shields” are just cut ends of popsicle sticks. The only plastic bits are the horse head from a 5th Ed Bretonnian knight, the door handles are from the bottoms of halberds from a sprue of 90s Chaos warriors, and the point of the flag pole is from the modern Chaos warriors box.

I used cheap acrylic craft paint for the stone and brick parts, and mostly citadel and Vallejo for the rest. The shields are painted in the colors of all of the Imperial provinces + Altdorf.

I’m very happy with how it turned out, and I will definitely be building some more terrain to potentially expand to a small village of similar style, probably at minimum a couple smaller houses and a watch tower. Might end up with a full table of terrain way before I ever get an army together and play my first game!
