Flax fiber

Hey! I’ve been curious about something in the hand spinning world and thought you might have some insight.

I work with Egyptian flax fiber and currently export a lot of it to China and India for industrial use, but I’ve been wondering how it’s viewed among hand spinners and fiber artists.

Is Egyptian flax actually known or appreciated in the hand spinning community?
And do hand spinners generally enjoy working with raw flax/linen flax, or do most people prefer other fibers instead?

Just genuinely trying to understand the craft side of the market, not selling anything 😄

cotton linen yarn

Hi everyone,

I’ve been reading about linen/flax yarns and noticed that many brands now use cottonized flax blended with cotton or other fibers instead of pure linen yarn.

From a crocheter/knitter perspective:

  • Do you enjoy working with linen/cotton blend yarns?
  • Are they softer or easier to use than pure linen yarn?
  • Do people actually look for flax/linen blends, or is cotton still much more preferred?
  • Have you noticed growing demand for eco/natural fiber yarns lately?

Just genuinely curious about real user experiences and market preferences 🙂
