Claim Process Went Nowhere. No Resolution Whatsoever

We made a claim under our business liability insurance at the beginning of Feb of this year. I was initially contacted by one claims agent, then after about a month they passed me of to another and I never got any response from the new one or the old one. I have an email chain that stops after I reached out for the 5th time on April 2.

My policy expires on May 31 and being a small business owner, the Spring has flown by since it's our busy season. My current insurance agent reached out at the beginning of the month to get things started for the renewal. I informed them that due to my experience over the last 18 months with them, that I wanted my loss run report for the past 3 years so I could begin getting quotes from other agencies.

They are now acting shocked that the claim process went no where. I reached out to them about it in the end of Feb as well. I was pretty sure the claim wasn't going to be covered since the repair company couldn't conclusively determine the equipment was damaged due to freezing temps. But I received nothing informing me of the claim's resolution.

What exactly are my options here? I have already told them that I'm looking at other options and as long as the other options are not way higher, I'm using someone else due to their incompetence.

A second question: When does it make sense not to have extra insurance coverage? We obviously have to have some as dictated by the law and some of our customers. But it seems that, short of a huge weather event or fire or water damage, nothing is covered.

Thanks in advance for any help and advice!

$15 to see these guys is criminally cheap. If you're in the area, this is a must see. Some of the best best musicians out there. Everyone shreds.

My wife and I will be there, as well as Austin and San Antonio...never miss a Sunday show especially at the Lonesome Rose!

They're playing Houston on Thursday too.
