Purdue vs RPI Aerospace Engineering

(I’d like to note that this is an UPDATE on a previous post linked HERE)

So, I just received my finaid package from purdue, and it turns out i’d be paying 42k per year to attend. Additionally, after reviewing my RPI finaid package, I realize that I’d actualky be paying 35k out of pocket (as opposed to 27k with loans). As such, i’m back to deciding between these two schools, and would like some opinions, especially since cost was a big factor in play.

Also, if not already obvious, I have already submitted ny deposit to RPI, but I don’t mind losing that money.

tl;dr - stuck between RPI and purdue because of updated finaid.

I just got off the Purdue waitlist, and I’m currently deciding between these two colleges (planning on majoring in aerospace). I’m stuck between these two, and I genuinely don't know what to pick. I haven't put down my deposit yet, and I have to decide within the next 6 hours.

Purdue:

Pros:

  • Pipeline school in the industry
  • Top #3 for Aerospace Engineering Undergraduate (World-renowned)
  • Lots of Internship opportunities
  • Great campus
  • I have a friend who has a startup and a bunch of connections and whatnot
  • Other Obvious stuff

Cons:

  • Huge school (VERY VERY competitive... though I don't doubt I could do well)
  • I'd have to pay full price (53k - Though money isn't that insane of an issue)
  • I kinda dislike the public/state flagship school vibe

RPI:

Pros:

  • I'd have to pay $27k
  • I know a very well-regarded alumni who could get me in touch with the dean of engineering and everything
  • Very rigorous engineering curriculum
  • Co-op program
  • Smaller school which means more personalization and stuff
  • First year research

Cons:

  • The campus is kinda butt (though I went during the winter so it was depressing)
  • Social scene isn't that great from what i've heard
  • Much less known for aerospace

ALSO... I do eventually want to end up at like Georgia tech and stuff like that
