It's leading to a Diet Coke shortage because it's only sold in aluminum cans there, not bottles. It has something to do with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Now people are throwing Diet Coke parties.
I'm in the break room, and on TV is Ernie Hermann talking about how well TJX is doing and making record profits. I'm thinking, then why are our pay and payroll so low? Make it make sense!
I had a lady come in yesterday buying $255 worth of merchandise. She wrote a check, which was declined. She tried her bank card, which was declined. Then she tried her TJX card, and that got declined too.
She decided to call Synchrony and ask for a credit line increase, which was declined as well. It turns out that she only had $40 on her card in available credit. I told her she could split the payment between cards, but she didn't want to try that. Eventually she gave up and left the store without her merchandise.
I checked with a manager, who said it was okay to void it, as they only check for how many voids we have, not the amounts. I was afraid it might get flagged by management, but the LOD and another key carrier said to do it, as my register was hung up.
I think I've only had such a big void once before, and I've been at the store for almost nine years.
