Can rivets be salvaged?

Can these types of rivets be harvested/salvaged?

I recently deconstructed a vintage bag and still have a strap hanging around. I’d love to repurpose these rivets for another project but don’t know if they can be removed and then reattached.

Anyone know?

Ozone machine caused color change??

I bought a Y2K nubuck suede messenger bag to use for parts. After all other failed attempts to remove the terrible cigarette smoke smell, I tossed the pieces in a bin with an ozone machine for about 20 minutes. When I pulled the suede out, these pieces were all suddenly discolored- lots of weird light color swatches like they’d been sun bleached. The color was consistent throughout (barring some stains and marks) prior to using the ozone machine.

Has anyone else seen than before? Anyone able to explain the science behind why this might have happened?😱

I’m cutting these suede pieces into fringe so the color change isn’t any big deal here, but I would have been devastated if this had happened to something of value.

Photos: pieces of suede are all brushed in the same direction, so color variation isn’t from the nap being disturbed. Last photo is the “before” when bag was still intact. Bag had been cleaned with Lincoln’s and thoroughly dried (for days) before using the ozone machine.

I grabbed this Dinky from Amazon when it was super discounted and it has sat in its packaging for a week. I love the idea of the silhouette, but can’t decide if she’s a keeper. Also a bit worried about having to be careful with the chalk color, but I feel like I need a small white bag in my collection.

Show me how you’re decorating your Dinky bags and how you’re wearing them (mod shots!)
