Bonjour,

Hi everyone, I'm thinking about buying a mini PC to watch movies from my living room. I have a Xiaomi L1 projector (it costs around €200) that projects in 720p and can be forced to 1080p, but that's good enough for me.

I'm wondering whether it's better to go with a mini PC or another type of device to watch movies I’ve stored, or to view large photo collections without lag during playback or processing.

Budget: it doesn’t really matter as long as it’s reasonable. I assume it should be under €300 for a €200 projector haha.

Thanks

Hi everyone,

I have this computer :
2 screens with HDMI
CPU ; i5 7400
GPU : rx 6650 xt
motherboard : H270 plus
RAM : Kingston 2x8Go DDR4 2666mhz
Power : Max Pro II 700w
be quiet! Pure Base 600 (big tower)
TP link 1200 for bluetooth with my logitech mx ergo mouse and logitech keyboard

1 Nvme for Windows + 4 HDD

I would like to upgrade CPU, motherboard and add 16Go Ram maybe to be sure.

I use Lightroom to import a huge quantity (5000 to 8000 images everytime) and when I have to import from a HDD, the computer is quite slow. (15-30 min). I check the performance and only the CPU was charging high during the process. HDD,RAM don't seems to be affected a lot by Lightroom.

It is not the only reason to my decision to change : The whole computer is not as fast as before, and I think Win 11 + old CPU isn't good choice to get performance.
My mouse don't work everytime properly ; some latency happened without reasons, sometime when I just boot up, sometime online, sometime when I juste drag and drop some folders.
My keyboard got the same issue ; stop working for many seconds then come back.
One of my screen sometimes has issue to boot and I don't know why, so I stop and start it again and it's OK. With windows 10 & 11 I got approximately the same issue.

Some people told me that forcing Windows 11 on a 7th gen CPU wasn't a good choice to avoid this kind of trouble, but before I had some other issues too, so ..

Could you help me to choice new component to upgrade ?

I will quick reply for a hour.

Thanks a lot.

Edit : 800€ max, and I'm from France
