Studying/ Life in Ireland?

Hello!

I am a 3rd year history student nearing the end of my degree at a uni in the South of England. I am considering studying for a masters in Ireland next year. My mum was half Irish and I have Irish relatives but I have not been in contact with them for a long time after my mum died when I was younger.

I have always been interested in the Irish people and the culture and have considered a future living in the country. But I am concerned being English might make me stand out like a sore thumb in the area/ on my course? How are the English treated, or is it not as problematic nowadays?

I admit I have yet to do much research about where exactly I would apply. I would appreciate any insights nonetheless. Also any private messages are more than welcomed. Many thanks for reading.
