My husband has been playing piano for a couple years with Piano Vision VR. I started piano lessons at 5 years old and had about 8 years total with a teacher. I've played casually for fun over the years. My husband always admired that I could play and wished he could play too. Then he found this VR app. He loves that he can "play" all the music he likes. I've always felt that he's not really playing, he's just really good at a video game. This really offended him. I told him that I'll never see him as playing piano and he feels sad that I'm not supportive. I feel bad he feels that way, but it's the truth in my eyes. I asked him if I got him some books for him to learn properly if he'd consider it, and he said he thinks learning to read music would be boring. He says he just wants to play for fun. Mostly plays Studio Ghibli and Final Fantasy type music. He admittedly can play some hard pieces but he has no technique and it bugs me. He called me a snob. He brings his VR to other people's houses to play and everyone is so amazed.

If he is having fun doing what he likes and people enjoy his music, should I stop being such a snob? How do I get over my years of training and this belief of how one is supposed to play and be happy for him? Just wanted to pick other people's brains because I am struggling with this!
