Google is hiring more then they are laying off. Who is getting fired though is middle management and UX designers.

The people being hired are cloud infrastructure, hardware engineers, ai specialists, quantum computing specialists.

Basically, Google is just skill swapping. Focusing more on hard science then soft skills.
