I need a very expensive treatment… What to do?
I don’t know much about mewing. My brother does, and he examined my mouth and determined that I have a small palate due to my scalloped tongue and some other factors. I’ve had TMJ since I was 13. No treatment I’ve tried has worked. I went to a professional orthodontist who specializes in this sort of case. They told me I do have a small palate, tongue tie, small airway caused by this and forward head posture. They told me it causes my TMJ and other problems in my life such as trouble sleeping. They want to install MARPE, supported by invisalign, and get me a frenectomy. However, they told me this whole process is going to run me 15,000 dollars over about 18 months. I’m 19 and don’t have that kind of money. My parents are not willing to pay that either. These orthodontists are absolutely experts in their fields though, and I trust them and want their results. What should I do? My mom wants to see if we can do the treatment in Brazil (my home country) but over there they don’t really do frenectomies and I was told it was a necessary part of my treatment.
