Next book to read

Hi folks,

I just finished Mistborn Era 1. This is my first time reading Sanderson and I absolutely loved it. I am not quite ready to move to Era 2 so I thought about breaking things up by reading one of Sanderson's standalone Cosmere novels.

I am thinking between Tress or Warbreaker. Any recommendations on which I should read next? I know Tress has Cosmere easter eggs that might go over my head but I love the Princess Bride. On the other hand, Warbreaker color magic sounds really cool.

Finished hero of ages!

That was a beautiful ending.

Sazed using the copperminds to understand how to wield the awesome power was a brilliant touch.

RIP Elend and Vin

Reading update Hero of Ages (no spoilers please)

Spook had his big hero moment pulling the spike out of his chest and saving Urteau. TenSoon and Sazed meet up and Sazed is starting to come back to his old self. Ruin is messing with Vin's head but she seems to have some plan involving Yomen. Can't put the book down.

Hero of Ages Update (no spoilers of future events or other cosmere please)

I am at the part where Telden got Vin to drink the spiked wine.

I am really impressed by Yomen as an antagonist. I don't think he is an allomancer. My guess is that he is able to use atium because of a Hemarulgy spike.

Spook has really grown as a character and turning into a leader. His plan to flood the canal is interesting. They have just taken Beldre hostage. I am suspicious there is more to her than meets the eye.

I got to the part where it is revealed that Reen's voice was Ruin all along. I love Sanderson twists as he somehow manages to surprise without it feeling an ass pull or random. The voice was introduced in book 1 so I assumed it was metaphorical at the time. I did not connect it with Ruin's voice in Zane's head because it had already been normalized in book 1.

I am loving the cosmic horror/manchean and apocalyptic dimension of Hero of Ages. Something about it reminds me of the Stand by Stephen King.

Hemalurgy is such a creepy magic system. I love it.
