It’s been two months since my surgery (meniscus debridement and ACL reconstruction using a hamstring graft). The first few weeks were critical and definitely the toughest. Three weeks post-op, I started exercises focused on regaining my range of motion (flexion and extension).
After just seven days of physical therapy, I achieved full extension and flexion. A month into the process, I was able to ditch the crutches and the brace. I’ll admit, I still sleep with a bandage on—mostly out of caution/fear—but even though there’s occasional pain, I can walk without a limp.
Right now, I’m waiting to start rehabilitation at a thermal spa (health resort), where my main focus will be muscle strengthening. All in all, I think the recovery is going better than expected. The key is to start therapy as soon as possible to get the knee moving, and then take it step by step.
