Alchemised (SenLinYu) - This book broke me and I said thank you

Alchemised absolutely ruined me in the best possible way. One minute I was emotionally shattered, the next I was being lovingly stitched back together by the same book. Honestly, what a read.

The world building was insane. And the character development? SO good. The relationship development was what really sold it for me though. The tension, the trust issues, the emotional damage, the vulnerability underneath all the walls… The characters actually felt layered rather than just there to move the plot along. I got far too emotionally attached and now I’m expected to just carry on with my life and answer emails like a normal person?

I also really loved how the fantasy elements and the romance balanced each other. Sometimes fantasy romance leans too heavily one way, but this genuinely felt like both genres were given equal care. I went into it expecting pitch-black dark romance because of how it’s categorised, but I actually didn’t find it that dark. Don’t get me wrong, it still absolutely delivered, but I think my dark romance standards may now be slightly concerning at this point...

>!Also… that ending? I know nothing’s been confirmed sequel-wise, but she definitely left the door open enough for future stories and now I NEED them. I would read an entire series about their children and the “new world” after the war without hesitation.!<

Anyway, easy 5⭐ from me. Now if anyone needs me, I’ll be staring at a wall trying to figure out how to move on from this book.
