It seems very heavy

This might be a weird one. I ordered this set off of Amazon, but the plunger has a rubber smell that I can’t handle in our tiny apartment bathroom. I tried washing it with dish soap and sitting it outside to off gas for a week, then put it in a bag with some baking soda. It improved a bit, but still smells too much like tires for me to handle. It is new and unused. I was able to receive a refund so wanted to see if anybody could use it (maybe in a shop or basement?)

What is digging little holes in my raised bed? It has netting over the top so I think they’re coming in from below
