Looking for a "Tech-First" Carrier for a Dad (Central Europe)
Hi everyone,
I’m a dad to a 3-month-old and I’m looking for my own dedicated carrier. My wife has her own (a local woven wrap brand - Sestrice), but I’ve realized that the "traditional/earthy/woven" aesthetic and complex tying really isn't for me. I’m looking for easy to use piece of "gear" rather than a piece of clothing.
What I’m looking for:
- Industrial/Tech Aesthetic: I want to avoid the "earthy/woven" look. I prefer clean lines and a masculine, "engineered" feel (think Apple or Tesla vibes).
- UX: I don't like back-buckle gymnastics. I want a system where I can put the carrier on first like a vest, and then click the baby in front (similar to BabyBjörn Harmony or Cybex AMYA).
- High-End Engineering: I’m a fan of mechanical solutions like magnets or precision adjustments in front. I prefer technical fabrics over traditional cotton/linen.
- Availability: Needs to be buyable in the Central Europe.
- Physical constraints: I am a quite large guy with a broad, barrel chest, wide shoulders, and big hands. Because of this, reaching behind my back to clip a buckle between my shoulder blades is physically almost impossible for me to do solo. I need a 'vest-style' system where every adjustment and fastening point is easily accessible in my line of sight at the front.
What I’ve tried/seen so far:
- Cybex AMYA: Liked the easy entry and mesh, but missed the hood for hiding baby head.
- Nuna: Looked a bit too "generic/feminine" in person.
- Ergobaby: Too bulky and I'm not fan the buckle between the shoulder blades.
- BabyBjörn Harmony: Loved the front-only buckles, but the design is a 50/50 for me. Also I read here som mixed but mostly "hated" posts about this brand.
- BeSafe Haven: Haven't tried it yet, but the engineering looks promising.
Thanks for any recomendations.
