Energy drain?

I have a draining seton as I await my next surgery.

I’ve been experiencing a fair bit of fatigue and low energy since I got the seton.

I am thinking the constant fluid being produced and draining, as well as the pain and discomfort can sap some energy throughout the day.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi everyone, I'm based in the the UK and I'm after some NHS advice if anyone can help.

I had an operation to fit a seton 6 weeks ago, as I have a fistula caused by an abscess.

I'm told I will need a follow up operation but I've not been given any dates or info on timeframes; the doctors were very vague.

I remember being told that I will need a check up around the 6 week point, but I've not heard anything. So I'm going to call the hospital department to try and find out more; not my GP, as I assume the case isn't with them.

I have 2 questions really:

  • For you, how long was it between your seton being fitted and the follow up surgery.
  • Did you get a follo up from the hospital/GP and did you have to chase this yourself or get a letter in the post?

Thanks!

Does anyone know why the setons are threaded together with silk ties that can feel pointy and itchy, and why the ends of the seton are sharp and paintful?

Why don't the surgeons, once the seton is threaded through, heat melt the two ends of the seton together or something to connect them more seamlessly?

Why have a big section of the seton pointy and sharp, in such as sensitive place?

It feels like a big design flaw to me.
