Because of my carelessness I became a father straight out of Highschool. I had a full ride to engineering school, great grades, multiple accolades and whatnot. But unfortunately I didn’t end up pursing it, I have to take care of my new found family. I’m doing online community college just to knock out some Gen Ed’s, since I was dual enrollment. I work as a blasting engineer making pretty good money, and I’m currently on hold for a job in the Air Force. Needless to say I’m not in some miserable spot, and I’m not begging for help, only some advice. My kid has a few thousand in an investment account for school or whatnot that he’ll have when he turns 18 and it’ll just keep growing, he turns 1 next week, and I also turn 19 next week too. I love the family I’ve come to make. My plan is to do my time in the Air Force, break into real estate with the use of my VA loan hopefully, use my education benefits so my wife can finish her school. And ultimately go back to school to finish my degree, or well start it, but I’m just going with the flow and doing what I think is smart. My father was kind of a dirtbag and I don’t have contact with him so, not really sure what to make of life, I guess I’m just happy. I have several investment accounts and an emergency fund. I do work on weekends like pressure wash houses, clean windows, driveways, the sort. Sorry for the long background, I’d just like to ask for a collective viewpoint from people that have been in similar situations as mine, or would just like to give advice.
