Employment offer rescinded due to bad credit
After years of having an 800 credit score, I stopped paying my credit cards due to financial hardship last year. I applied for a senior level financial services job in California and received a great offer. Prior to the hardship, I had decades of experience in financial services at top companies.
When they did a background check, weeks before my start date, the charge offs and unpaid debts turned up. I tried to explain the hardships and offer tax documents but had no luck. They rescinded the offer. I spoke to the recruiter days later (he was informed but wasn’t given much detail due to privacy laws) and he said if I took a few months and got things back on track I’d be welcome to work there. He didn’t offer much detail. When I asked for more information in a follow up email, he didn’t reply which is understandable because he wouldn’t want to put something like that in writing.
I got another job, a debt lawyer and have begun payment plans to get back on track with my debt. It’s a lot of money that will take years to pay off but I’ve begun the process.
Anyone have luck doing this? Advice? Tips? I really want that job that was rescinded and want to put myself in a position to get it.
Thanks in advance.
