Plugin Solar In California
So there is a bill to legalize plugin solar in California that isn't in effect yet, but there are companies in California that are already selling plugin solar kits for Californians. ChatGPT says it's in a legal gray area.
My housemate owns the house I live in, and she already has solar installed on her roof. We seem to be using a bit more electricity than we're generating, and I think it might be a good idea to add a bit more. I don't want her to lose nem 2, of course.
I don't know anything about the rules and regulations regarding solar, but what do you guys think? Do I need to wait for the bill to fully legalize it? Is it ok to do now?
Also, what are some good, but not overly expensive, ground mounts for panels in an area that can be very windy? It doesn't happen that often, but sometimes the wind around here can be absolutely wicked. I found some 590 watt qcells going for only $175 each, which I think is a good deal? I figure I might want 3. As long as the inverter stays at 1kw output, and below, I won't mess up my housemate's nem 2 status, correct?
Any knowledgeable input here is welcome. I don't even know what I don't know, and I'm sure it's a lot.
Thanks!
